The Choral Society is the oldest
and largest vocal ensemble at Northeastern University. NUCS comprises
a Concert Choir and Chamber Singers which perform in a concert at
the end of both the Fall and Spring semesters.
The objectives of the Choral Society are to foster aesthetic and educational experiences through the rehearsal and performance of choral music, and to promote harmonious social interaction among members of the Northeastern community.
The Concert Chorus is
open to all qualified singers by audition. Rehearsals are held generally
on Wednesdays from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the Fenway Center. Plan to arrive by 5:45 as we start promptly at 6:00. Auditions
for the Concert Chorus are held at the beginning of each semester
after rehearsal and can also be scheduled at other designated times
by appointment.
The Chamber Singers is an ensemble of 16-24 singers
who are chosen by audition. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday nights
from 8:30 to 9:30.
Chorus is an extracurricular activity for many, but can
also be taken as a free 1-credit elective by registering for course
sequence MUS U904. This course may be repeated for credit.
The members of
the Choral Society come from all backgrounds and majors,
and any interested member of the NU community is eligible to join.
We encourage all those who are interested in singing to contact
us or to simply show up at the first rehearsal ready to sing!
Call or visit Prof.
Jacobson at his office with any questions. Contact information is
